What's Happening

Satin has been doing really good. I made a couple of trips out of town and since Bill refuses to do the fluids I have to make sure the trips are short. He has been on fluids for quite awhile now. He still won't lay down but he will sit and cuddle.

The winter is being hard on his joints. I have to talk to the doctor again about Glucosamine for him. I know it is a small amount and the pills are absolutely HUGE! I'm going to increase his fluids for a week and see if it helps. He seems to have lost more weight and he can't afford to do that. I have a little electric chopper, it looks like a mini food processor. I grind his food up with water twice a day and it has made it easier for him to eat. He eats more in a day than all the other cats I had put together.

Well, I went out of town for 4 days, my nephew was here to take care of him. I was a little worried, I had gone out of town for just 2 nights the week before and he wasn't very happy with me but he perked up as soon as I got home. This time he did really good. I started him on fluids before I left and I'm sure that helped a lot. We did it again last night. He really hates it and it is a struggle to get him to stay still long enough to get some in him. He did better last night and I'll do it again in a couple of days. Hopefully he'll settle down and lay down until it is finished. If I can get a good drip it doesn't take very long.

I am starting this blog for Satin to chronicle his senior days. He will be 20 this summer, the oldest cat I have ever had. It took me awhile to find out how old he really was. When I did it amazed me. I had thought that he looked okay for being only 17 but when I discovered he was 19 I realized he looked GREAT!

I went out of town for a few days and my nephew took care of him. He looked awfully rough when I got home but he looked a lot better once he was awake and mobile.
