In February of 1986 there was a horrible flood in my mother's neighborhood. In her back yard there were 2 half grown cats and they leaped into the water to get to her so she decided to keep them. She wanted to name them Satin and Lacey until she found out they were both males and she changed their names to Satin and Casey. Satin was always shy around people he didn't know. He would slink around the house and I never saw Satin's legs extended until not long before he came to live with me.
I moved him to Reno and thought I would never see him because he would just live under the bed. Fortunately he didn't stay under the bed and over the years became more and more comfortable with me. His favorite thing to do to me is rub his tooth against my skin (my nose being his favorite place rub) and wakes me up. He had more than one tooth but he uses one tooth more than the other.
He didn't talk much when he came to live with me but he sure is now. He announces everything he does. He announces when he goes to get something to eat, when he goes to drink water, when he goes to the bathroom. What a silly old cat!
He became a single cat when Peter died and that is when he really came into his own. He became more affectionate. My nephew loves to say that when he became senile he forgot that he didn't like us and became a lap cat. It is such a pleasure to have him around. He gets fluids all the time and he really hates it but it does make him feel better.
